On Friday 13 September 2013, Valerie held a meeting at Stafford Road in Darlaston with residents and representatives of Centro and National Express West Midlands to discuss congestion caused by the number of bus routes using the road.

On Thursday 12 September 2013, Valerie and Burma Campaign UK attended the Foreign and Commonwealth Office to deliver over 2000 letters and postcards from supporters of Burma Campaign UK with the call for action to end rape and sexual violence against women in Burma.

On Monday 9 September 2013, during the consideration of the Transparency of Lobbying, Non-Party Campaigning and Trade Union Administration Bill, Valerie intervened to raise the issue of unregistered lobbyist and the 161 people that were employed by a leading tobacco company to oppose an EU directive on tobacco products.

Valerie has written to the Chairman of the Football Association Greg Dyke asking what assistance can be provided to re-establish Darlaston Town Football Club after it was closed at the start of the 2013/14 season.
