No CommentsOn Saturday 16 July I met with Jamal Hussain the owner of Kashmir Meat & Poultry to offer my support. The butchers was left badly damaged in a fire-bomb attack on Monday 27 June 2016. Mr Hussain escaped injury, but it could have been much more serious. I saw the catastrophic damage that the fire had caused, you could still smell the damage.

Valerie unveils new playground at Whitehall Nursery and Infant School

On Friday 15th July I cut the ribbon at Whitehall Nursery and Infant School new playground. The new playground is an excellent addition to the playground and is surfaced with soft artificial grass to provide a safe area for the children to play. I was delighted to be there with staff, parents and the children who were entertained by the School Choir. We all joined in. This is a great opportunity for children to learn while playing in all weathers. The children showed me the stream and the dam that can increased and decreased the flow of water into the stream.

With recent instances of violence and tension between the two countries, India and Pakistan, most recently, on Monday 11 July 2016 in which 30 protesters were killed and 200 more injured in clashes with security forces in Indian-administered Kashmir, I asked the Minister at Foreign and Commonwealth questions on Tuesday 12 July 2016 the following question:

Valerie chairs Westminster Hall debate on North Middlesex Hospital Trust

On Tuesday 12 July 2016, I chaired the Westminster Hall debate on North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust, which was moved by Joan Ryan MP who secured the Westminster Hall debate following a Care Quality Commission (CQC) report which found that the hospital’s emergency services are ‘inadquate’, medical care ‘requires improvement’ and that patient safety at the hospital had been ‘compromised’. Other members who took part were: David Burrows MP; Rt Hon David Lammy MP and Catherine West MP. The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Health, Ben Gummer MP, responded.
