I attended an event at Speaker’s House to mark two years since the Grenfell Tower disaster. The horrific fire on 14 June 2017 claimed 72 lives.

There is a new timetable for the election of the Conservative leader, and we need to ensure that the House is not in recess when the new leader—effectively the new Prime Minister—takes up his or her post. Does he agree that it is vital for the House to have an immediate opportunity to test whether the new leader of the Conservative party commands the confidence of the House?
