No Comments“My constituents are appalled that the Council Scrutiny Committee meeting to hear residents’ views about building on the Green Belt in the Black Country Plan has been postponed. I have written to Councillor John Murray, Chair of the Scrutiny Overview Committee, and the Chief Executive of Walsall Council, to ask that the Scrutiny Committee meeting on the 22 September is reinstated.

Valerie submits response objecting to Battery Storage Facility on Chapel Lane

I have written to Walsall Council to express my continuing concerns about the development of a Battery Storage facility on Chapel Lane. Whilst I am fully aware of the need for more renewable technology and development, I maintain my position that this development would be wholly inappropriate.
I have included my letter to the Council below, which highlights why I feel development of this site does not outweigh the potential safety risks and need to protect the Green Belt.

Valerie opposes the New Site East of Skip Lane for 135 houses.

A new site was added to the Black Country Plan which would be situated east of Skip Lane and north of Woodfield Close. In my view the proposed development of 135 houses on the site is in breach of several policies, which includes protecting Green Belt. The ownership of the the land is still unclear I would urge the removal of the proposed site from the BCP. The Site Assesment raised a number of red flags in relation to this Site. Queen’s Baton Relay comes through Walsall

I was delighted to attend the Queen’s Baton Relay in Walsall on Saturday 23 July. The Baton has travelled across the Commonwealth, visiting Europe, Africa, Asia, Oceania, the Caribbean and the Americas. The final part of its journey is a 25-day tour across England, where the relay will officially end at the Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony on 28 July.

Queen’s Baton Relay Stalls

At the Queen’s Baton Relay event, I had the opportunity to visit several stalls.
I supported #BePartofResearch, which is run by the National Institute of Health and Care Research. It is an online service that helps educated the public on what research is, and how they can take part. We also spoke about Manor Hospital.
