No CommentsThe Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill was returned to the Commons by the Lords on Wednesday 21 April 2022, so that we could vote on the Lords’ amendments. This is the third time that the Lords have sent these amendments to the Commons, demonstrating the seriousness of their concerns over the risk the Bill poses to democratic principles.

I tabled three Written Parliamentary Questions regarding the Horizon scandal, which resulted in 736 members of staff at the Post Office being prosecuted over 14 years for alleged crimes which were in fact attributable to the newly installed computer system, Horizon. My Questions were:

“I and residents have consistently opposed development on the Green Belt in the Black Country Plan. In my submission to the Consultation in October 2021 I called for all Green Belt sites to be removed, including at Calderfields West adjacent to the Arboretum.

Valerie Supports Motion to Investigate whether PM misled the House.

In light of the numerous statements made by the Prime Minster to the House about his knowledge of events reported to have taken place in Downing Street and the Cabinet Office during the coronavirus lockdowns, events which both he and the Chancellor of the Exchequer have been issued fines by the Metropolitan Police for attending, the House debated the Motion tabled in the name of Keir Starmer and supported by the opposition party leaders. The motion asks the Privileges Committee to investigate whether said statements made by the Prime Minster deliberately misled MPs, which would amount to contempt of Parliament.
