No CommentsOn 29 March 2023 the House debated Classical Music: Funding and Support, in an Adjournment Debate secured by Bambous Charalambous MP (Enfield Southgate). My speech in the debate touched on the impact of classical music in my life and the importance of access to classical music in children’s learning and education. The UK hosts a major festival, the Proms, which is a magnet for international artists.

The House voted on the Finance (No.2) Bill on Wednesday 29 March. Following the Spring Budget 2023 the Finance (No.2) Bill 2022-23 was published on 23 March 2023. The Motion declines to give the Bill a Second Reading.

On Monday 27 March I sat on the Joint Committee on Statutory Instruments for the Merchant Shipping (Fire Protection) Regulations. Delegated legislation is used to make changes to the law under powers given in an Act of Parliament.

The Dog Control Coalition Drop-In Event

On 28 March 2023 I met with Emma Whitfield, the mother of ten-year-old Jack Lis who was fatally attacked by a dog in Caerphilly in November 2021 (pictured). Emma lives in Wayne David MP’s constituency. The Dog Control Coalition held a drop-in event in Parliament. It was attended by the RSPCA, the Dogs Trust and other dog behaviourist organisations.
