On 17 July 2024,  the new  Labour Government set out the legislative programme to be followed. There are 40 new Bills proposed in this programme.  MPs are summoned to the Lords to hear the King read out the programme in what is known as the King’s speech.  I am setting out the words below used

It was a great privilege to be sworn in on 9 July 2024 and to take the Oath holding the Jerusalem Bible.  This is a process where all the new MPs have to swear or affirm that we will uphold the law. I did so remembering my constituents in Walsall and Bloxwich.

I want to thank everyone who cast their vote in the General Election on 4 July 2024 which resulted in a win for me as the Labour MP for the new constituency of Walsall and Bloxwich. This was an important election and i will continue to work for all my constituents, for economic and social
