On Monday 15 January 2014, Valerie voted to revoke the Government’s regulations on firefighters’ pensions.
Valerie said:
“The Government’s Firefighters’ pension regulations are not fit for purpose. They are based on an assumption about a dangerously low fitness standard, which would put public safety and the lives of firefighters at risk.”
“The motion to revoke the Government’s regulations was lost. The result of the vote was 261 Ayes and 313 Noes.”
The Motion was:
“That the Firefighters’ Pension Scheme (England) Regulations 2014 (S.I., 2014, No. 2848), dated 23 October 2014, a copy of which was laid before this House on 28 October, be revoked.”
