On Thursday 5 February 2015, Valerie met pupils from Mayfield Preparatory School for a question and answer session organised by the Parliament Education Service at the House of Commons.
Valerie said:
“I was delighted to meet pupils from Mayfield Preparatory School and to talk about my work as a Member of Parliament. The pupils asked lots of interesting questions.”
“One pupil asked me if I had one thing to change what it would be : I said that I would like everyone to be treated as equals regardless of who they are.”
“Earlier, the pupils had been to the House of Lords Robing Room where they had seen the four surviving original copies of the Magna Carta were set out in an exhibition to mark 800 years of the Magna Carta or Great Charter. Other people will be able to see them together at the British Library. The link below sets out what the British Library are doing. Magna Carta was signed by King John giving rights to the Barons on 15 June 1215 at Runnymede. See a later webpost.”
