“The Vaisakhi celebrations in Walsall are well supported by the local community. It was wonderful to see so many people march in the streets for the three-mile parade that started and ended at the Guru Nanak Gurdwara in West Bromwich Street.”
“The Vaisahki celebrations commemorate the year 1699 when Sikhism became a collective faith, and also marks the start of the Sikh New Year. 316 years ago Guru Gobind Singh Ji initiated the Sikhs into the Khalsa (the brotherhood) at Anandpur Sahib. This bound Sikhs to a strict code of conduct and respect for humanity and for nature.”
