At the General Election on Thursday 7 May 2015, Valerie Vaz was returned as Member of Parliament for Walsall South with a majority of 6,007 votes.
Valerie said:
“It is an honour to have been re-elected with an increased majority and a 7.5% increase in the share of the vote. I would like to thank everyone who voted for me and those who campaigned for my re-election.”
“Whilst I am delighted about the result in Walsall South the results nationally were clearly very disappointing. I am committed to continue standing up for my constituents in Walsall South against policies such as the bedroom tax and the privatisation of the NHS which have a terrible impact on people’s lives.”
“Thank you for having me back”.
The results in Walsall South were as follows:
Valerie Vaz (Lab): 19,740
Sue Arnold (Con): 13,733
Derek Bennett (UKIP): 6,540
Charlotte Fisher (Green): 1,149
Joel Kendrick (Lib Dem): 676
