Valerie welcomes Walsall College to House of Commons for launch event

On Tuesday 10th May Valerie hosted a reception at the House of Commons to launch Walsall College’s new ‘Accredited Skills for Industry’ qualifications.

 
Walsall College is only the second further education organisation in the country to gain a licence to accredit qualifications.

 
Valerie said:

 
“I am delighted to welcome Walsall College to the House of Commons to celebrate the launch of their new qualifications programme. Chief Executive Amarjit Basi and his colleagues have worked extremely hard to achieve this. The new links between education, industry and skills councils will be a great asset for the young people of Walsall seeking to gain excellent skills training in relevant fields, and support in applying these skills in their future employment.”

  
“Cutting-edge qualifications in Sustainable Construction and New Product Design Development are extremely exciting opportunities for those seeking vocational qualifications and those seeking to employ a skilled and well-prepared workforce. I look forward to seeing the programmes develop in the future.”

 
The launch was attended by Martin Doel OBE of the Association of Colleges, Allan E Cook CBE, Chairman of Semta, the Sector Skills Council for Science, Engineering and Manufacturing Technologies, Brian Holliday of Siemens UK, and Sara Woodall and Natalie Jones of the Accord Housing Group and Neighbourhood Resource Centre for Central England. Hospitality students from Walsall College assisted House of Commons staff with catering.
