On 17 March 2016 I asked a question at Environment, Food and Rural Affairs questions.
Valerie Vaz MP (Walsall South): Will the money allocated for flood defences in yesterday’s Budget stay with the Treasury or be transferred directly to the Department? How much of it will be allocated for maintenance of flood defences?
Rory Stewart MP: We are currently discussing the details of that, but the Treasury was clear that at least £40 million in the first year will go into maintenance, and £200 million of the initial allocation will go to capital spending on flood defences.
