On Sunday the 13th November 2016 I attended the Remembrance Sunday Services at the Town Centre and in Darlaston. I laid a wreath at both events made by disabled ex-servicemen. The event started with a March past by the following Associations:
The Staffordshire Band ; Walsall Normandy Veterans Association ; Walsall and Bloxwich Staffordshire Regiment Association; Cheshire Regiment Association; Mercian Volunteers Regimental Association ;143 Plant Squadron Old Comrades Association ;SSAFA West Midlands ; North 159 Field Company REME ; A Company Army Cadet Force ; Walsall Sea Cadets ; Queen Mary’s Grammar School Combined Cadet Force ;Walsall Blue Watch Walsall Fire Station and other uniformed youth organizations
After the procession to the Centotaph, there were prayers and hymns led by the Bishop of Lichfield the Very Rev Michael Ipgrave. The sounding of The Last Post by a Bugler from The Staffordshire Band rang out at 11am before the 2 minutes silence was observed. The Reverend Mark Kinder from St Pauls at the Crossing presided over the proceedings.
After the Remembrance at the Town Centre I went to Darlaston and processed with the congregation of St Lawrence’s to the Cenotaph at Darlaston. The picture above shows me with Flt Lt Steve Baker and cadets from 240 (Darlaston) Squadron of the Air Training Corps.
