I supported ‘EqualiTeas’ in Parliament on 1 May 2018.
To mark 90 years since the Representation of the People (Equal Franchise) Act became law, you are invited to celebrate this historic moment by throwing a tea party.
The Representation of the People (Equal Franchise) Act 1928 granted equal voting rights to men and women over the age of 21. This was the result of many people campaigning for voting equality over many years. The first petition to Parliament asking for votes for women was presented to the House of Commons on 3 August 1832.
Anyone can hold an ‘EqualiTeas’ tea party between 18 June and 2 July 2018 to brings your community together and explore what equality means to people.
You can sign up to receive a free host pack which includes a tablecloth board game, pack of debate cards, selfie placard, party banner, cookie cutter, recipe card, and badges. You can register here: https://equaliteas.org.uk/
I encourage everyone to join in the celebrations and share what equality means to you.
