From September 2020, Health Education is going to be compulsory for all state-funded secondary schools and organ and blood donation is in the statutory guidance.
To ensure that students have the opportunity to learn about all forms of donation and how they could potentially save a life, the Department for Education should add stem cell donation to the statutory guidance.
In Walsall South, there are 689 potential lifesavers on the Anthony Nolan stem cell register. In total, there are more than 700,000 incredible individuals on the donor register, who are willing to donate their stem cells if found to be a match for a blood cancer patient in need of a potentially lifesaving stem cell transplant.
