I attended the ‘Taste of Cornwall’ event at the Houses of Parliament on Tuesday 5 March, St. Piran’s day, where a wonderful selection of Cornish produce was on show.
A wide range of Cornish produce was showcased, and we had the chance to speak to those behind the products about their work.
The selection on show included Harvey & Brockless pure Cornish sea salt, hand-harvested just eight meters from the Cornish coast, and Cornish Yarg cheese, which is wrapped in nettles before maturing.
I also sampled some British-grown tea – Tregothnan in Cornwall was the first place in the UK to grow the variety Camellia sinensis outdoors, thanks to the region’s unique climate.
At the event I met Andrew George who was previously the Member of Parliament for St. Ives.
