Walsall FC v Exeter City

On Saturday 22 January I watched Walsall FC play Exeter City at Banks’s Stadium. It was a great display from Walsall. Unfortunately things didn’t go our way this time, and Exeter won 2-0. 

During my visit I met with Walsall FC’s Chairman Leigh Pomlett and the CEO Stefan Gamble. We discussed the Independent Fan-Led Review of Football Governance, published in November 2021, which Walsall FC contributed to. The Review has made several recommendations to safeguard the game’s future in the UK.

The Government is now considering the Review, and have said they will formally respond in Spring 2022. I agreed with Mr Pomlett and Mr Gamble that I will write to the Minister for Sports to pass on their feedback.
