I met with representatives from the GMB Union at an event in Parliament on Tuesday 22 February 2022.
We discussed successes from the last year which have included the historic signing of a recognition agreement with UBER in May 2021. This allows up to 70,000 UBER drivers to receive Trade Union representation for the first time. Members will be able to access support from drivers’ meeting hubs, and the Union will meet with UBER management four times a year to discuss issues raised by drivers.
I congratulate GMB on this important step towards security for gig economy workers, and their campaigning on the behalf of British workers throughout the year.
