Product Security and Telecommunications Infrastructure Bill

On 31 October, there was a motion to disagree with Lords Amendment 17 to the Product Security and Telecommunications Infrastructure Bill. The Bill makes provisions about the security of products that connect to the internet.

Amendment 17 adds a new clause to the Bill requiring the Secretary of State to commission an independent review of the effect of the electronic communications code and of the Telecommunications Infrastructure (Leasehold Property) Act 2021. This would have provided independent oversight.

I voted in support of the Amendment, however the motion passed, Ayes: 268 and Noes: 132.
