Marie Curie Great Daffodil Appeal 2023 and National Day of Reflection (23 March)

Today, 1 March 2023, I attended the Marie Curie drop-in event in Parliament. Marie Curie is the leader in end of life experience in the UK and Marie Curie works hard to provide a better life for people living with terminal illness, and their families. Marie Curie offer expert care across the UK in people’s own homes and in our nine hospices. Last year Marie Curie provided direct support to more than 66,000 people.

I met a Marie Curie Nurse and I thanked her for all the work that they do and the actor Jane Horrocks.  

The Great Daffodil Appeal is Marie Curie’s flagship annual fundraising appeal and is now in its 37th year. Every year thousands of supporters from across the UK come together to raise money to support the charity’s nurses, doctors and hospice staff so they can continue working on the frontline giving expert care to people at end of life, and their families. 

During the Great Daffodil Appeal the annual National Day of Reflection will take place. On 23 March, the charity is encouraging everyone to wear a daffodil pin and take a moment to remember loved ones who have died, support those who are grieving and give communities a space to talk openly about death and dying.
