Valerie has written to Transport Minister, Norman Baker MP to seek urgent clarification regarding his decision relating to the ticket office opening hours at Bescot Stadium Station.
Valerie said:
“The Minister informed me in a letter dated Monday 17 September 2012 that he is requiring London Midland trains to keep the ticket office at Bescot Stadium Station open. Unfortunately the Minister omitted to inform me that he is only requiring the ticket office to be open for 11 hours a week and that it will be closed from Tuesday to Thursday and on Sundays.
“As well as being an important resource for those wishing to purchase tickets or looking for travel information, the presence of a staffed ticket office is important for safety, particularly at a station with platforms located a significant distance from the main entrance. The ticket office is also a vital resource for people attending Walsall FC matches at Banks’ Stadium, many of whom will be travelling long distances.
“I am concerned that the Minister omitted this significant information from his letter and I hope to receive clarification as soon as possible. I will be pressing London Midland and the Minister to extend the ticket office opening hours so that a full service can be provided to the travelling public.”
