On the morning of Sunday 14 April 2013, Valerie attended the Bescot Crescent Vaisakhi celebrations where she helped serve free refreshments for those taking part.
The members of the Sikh community processed from Temple and refreshments were served to them on the way.
Valerie said:
“It was great to see so many families celebrating the event. I was delighted to be able to serve the refreshments and support them on their procession through the streets of Walsall South. I commend the community for providing the refreshments free to all those who took part in the procession.”
The Vaisakhi festival commemorates the year 1699 when Sikhism became a collective faith, and also marks the start of the Sikh New Year.
