Valerie opposes the Government’s plans to privatise Royal Mail.

“I oppose this the privatisation of Royal Mail. In addition a number of my constituents have written to me to stress their objection to the Government’s plans.”
“It is unnecessary to privatise this public service and national institution. Royal Mail is successful and made an annual profit of £400 million last year. Rather than be reinvested on a vital public service for many, the profit will go to private shareholders. The change will have serious implications for postal workers, who carry out a vital public service.”
“Taking Royal Mail out of public control and putting it into private hands will eventually lead to an increase in prices, an end of the six days a week service and an end of the one price goes anywhere service.”
