I was delighted to present awards at the Asian Voice Event in the Terrace Pavillion at the House of Commons on 10 March 2016. These are always very exciting events and are a way of acknowledging the hard work and enterprise of the awardees, who in many cases have successful lives from often a very humble start. The Awards honour outstanding personalities and celebrate their achievements in their respective fields.
The photograph shows me presenting the Designer of the Year (International) award, which was this year presented to Ajjay Mehhra. Mr Mehhra’s fine clothing is renowned for its cut and comfort. He even has a Guinness World Record for hosting a fashion show in a running train.
I presented the award for Contribution to British Film Industry, which was this year given to Charlie Fremantle at West London Film Studios. West London Film Studios has hosted the production for many films and television series, including The Imitation Game, hit BBC series New Tricks, and Channel 4’s youth sci-fi series Misfits.
It was good to see such a diverse and talented set of awardees and guests at the Asian Voice awards, and I would like to congratulate all the winners.
