No CommentsValerie takes a keen interest in the status of science in education and funding for science at our universities, herself being a science graduate with a degree in Biochemisty. Therefore she was pleased to meet BBC Young Scientist of the Year Tom Hearing who was at the House of Commons during filming for a BBC science programme due to be broadcast in March.

In June 2010 Valerie tabled an Early Day Motion seeking the support of other MPs for the campaign for a permament memorial to Second World War heroine Noor Inayat Khan, in Gordon Square, London. 34 MPs from all parties signed the EDM.

Recently Valerie showed her support for the Sustainable Livestock Bill by attending an event called “Celebrating Sustainable Foods” at the Houses of Parliament with Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall and Levi Roots.

On Wednesday 24th November, Valerie Vaz MP for Walsall South attended the Presentation Evening at Alumwell Business and Enterprise College as a special guest. Valerie Vaz MP was pleased to present a variety of awards to the pupils at Alumwell and to celebrate their achievements with them.
