The Peace Process in Yemen

No CommentsLast month, I joined colleague Flick Drummond MP in front of the Backbench Business Committee. We asked the committee for time to discuss the situation in Yemen. Yemen is in the midst of an 8-year long conflict which the UN estimates has cause 377,000 deaths. The two warring sides agreed a truce in April of this year, but sadly they have failed to reach an agreement to extend this.

On 31 October, there was a motion to disagree with Lords Amendment 17 to the Product Security and Telecommunications Infrastructure Bill. The Bill makes provisions about the security of products that connect to the internet.

The Genetic Technology (Precision Breeding) Bill, Third Reading

The Genetic Technology (Precision Breeding) Bill introduces a regulatory system for precision bred plants and animals. It is important that we get this Bill right, as with the right regulatory standards, we can reassure the public around precision bred plants and animals whilst providing an environment in which research and development can flourish.

Fun Football Drop-In

I visited a drop in event for Fun Football in Portcullis House. Fun football is the largest provider of free football in the country, with a focus on expanding grassroots football. At the event I met with World Cup winner and England legend Sir Geoff Hurst.
