No CommentsOn 4 July 2012, scientists at the Conseil Européen pour la Recherche Nucléaire (European Council for Nuclear Research, CERN) announced the discovery of the Higgs boson. On Monday, UK Research and Innovation held a reception to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the discovery, one of the most significant scientific achievements of recent decades.

The Northern Ireland Troubles (Legacy and Reconciliation) Bill proposes to end legal proceedings concerning Troubles-related conduct and provide conditional immunity from prosecution for those who cooperate with investigations conducted by a newly established Independent Commission for Reconciliation and Information Recovery. The Bill concluded its Committee Stage and had its Report Stage and Third Reading on Monday 4 July 2022.

I appeared on BBC Politics Midlands on Sunday 3 July 2022. We discussed the resignation of the Deputy Chief Whip, West Midlands Police continuing to have 1000 fewer officers than in 2010, Government proposals to deport asylum seekers to Rwanda, and the fast-approaching Commonwealth Games.

Commonwealth Games Week at Delves Federation

From 27 June to 1 July 2022 Delves Junior, Infant and Nursery Schools have hosted a Commonwealth Games Celebration Week ahead of the upcoming Games, led by Mr Headley. On Friday 1 July 2022 I closed the wonderful programme of activities at the Closing Ceremony.

Meeting Prospect Union and Heritage Workers

“World Class Heritage…Second Class Pay” was the title of the lobby of Parliament by members of the Prospect Union on Thursday 30 June 2022. I spoke to members of the Union in Parliament Square. They told me that Heritage is a vital part of the UK Economy- the value it adds to our economy is comparable to agriculture, film and TV production or the motor industry. It attracts 13 million international visitors a year spending over £7bn.
