To commemorate the 75th anniversary of VE day in 2020, the early May bank holiday will be moved from Monday 4 May to Friday 8 May of that year.
This will ensure as many people as possible have the opportunity to commemorate the end of the Second World War, allowing events for the occasion to fall on the day of the anniversary.
As well as marking the Allies’ victory against a regime of intolerance and brutality, the day will be an opportunity to pay tribute to those who served, and continue to serve, in our armed forces.
