Grassroots Football Plan Event with Chris Hughton

I attended a Grassroots Football event in Parliament on 27 April 2022 hosted by the Football Foundation. I signed up to the Local Football Facility Plan for Walsall. The event was attended by Chris Hughton, former Tottenham Hotspur player and manager of Brighton and Hove Albion, Newcastle United, Norwich City, Birmingham City and Nottingham Forest.

The Football Foundation is a charity supported by the FA, Premier League and Government which helps communities improve their local football facilities through grants. The Foundation have worked with each local authority in England to develop a Local Football Facility Plan to map out the facilities which are needed for future investment.

The Government announced on Tuesday 26 April 2022 that details of the proposed implementation of the Fan-Led Review into Football Governance will be published in a White Paper in the Summer. It is unfortunate that a timeline for when the Review’s recommendations will be put into legislation remains unclear, as reform is urgently required.
