Health Questions

During Health questions today on 7 March I asked a question to the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care about the recruitment and retainment of doctors in the NHS. I asked the Minister:

“As well as recruiting doctors, how do we retain doctors? A doctor in my constituency says that at the end of the day he takes home £100 a week. That is less than a decorator. What are the Government doing about retaining good doctors like my constituent?”

The Minister did not detail the steps being taken to give doctors a decent wage. I am pleased that the Government recognises the importance of retaining hard working doctors. I hope that the retention and pay issues being faced by doctors in my constituency Walsall South are resolved.
