Valerie took part in the House Magazine’s Series Email Dialogue with Conservative MP Rob Wilson on the topic of Reform of the BBC.
Valerie said:
As for the reform of the BBC, asking the 19,995 staff is a good place to start. Ariel has a comments page. Maybe the BBC should stop paying certain people obscene salaries for presenting. Stop ‘celebrities’ dancing, singing or ‘doing charitable things’ and making programmes about them. Reinvest that money into unleashing creativity. Make the BBC more diverse at all levels so enlarging the talent pool. Expand the traineeship programme and allow the staff space and time to hone their craft.
