On Monday 8 March 2021 I attended a service celebrating the installation of the New Palace Yard Flag Poles and Flag Raising Ceremony which marked Commonwealth Day and International Women’s Day.
I am photographed above with fellow female parliamentarians Dame Rosie Winterton MP, Dame Eleanor Laing MP, Harriet Harman MP, Chi Onwurah MP and Caroline Nokes MP.
International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. Significant activity is witnessed worldwide as groups come together to celebrate women’s achievements or rally for women’s equality.
Commonwealth Day is an annual celebration observed by people all over the Commonwealth in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean and Americas, the Pacific and Europe.
