Following news of 122 redundancies at Caparo Atlas Works at Heath Road in Darlaston on 30 October 2015, I arranged an urgent meeting with the Administrators, Price Waterhouse Cooper (PWC) on site.
I asked the Administrators about their assessment of what had led to Caparo Atlas Works being placed into administration, what provision had been made to support employees who have been made redundant and about the prospect of Caparo Atlas Works continuing to trade as a going concern. I also emphasised the importance of ensuring vital skills are not lost, but are maintained for the future particularly with a number of major infrastructure projects in the near future including HS2.
I will continue to stay in contact with the Administrators to ensure that every effort is made to support those who have been made redundant.
