It is Children’s Hospice Week this week. Hospices across the country are under threat, including one in my constituency, Acorns. It employs 70 people to care for 233 Black Country children and their families. It is facing closure due to lack of Government funding.
I met Richard Ratcliffe outside the Iranian embassy in London on Wednesday 19 June 2019. Richard Ratcliffe is husband of Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe. They are both on hunger strikes in protest against his Nazanin's imprisonment in Tehran.
On Tuesday 18 June 2019, at a meeting with other Black Country MPs, I spoke with Mark Lyttle whose daughter, Isabella, passed away at the hospice earlier this year. I also met with Acorns Chief Executive to discuss ways to prevent the proposed closure of Walsall Children’s Hospice.
