On Tuesday 24 January 2017 I met with 65 teachers at the Parliamentary Education Centre for the Teachers' Institute, two of the teachers attending were from Barr Beacon School.

I signed the Holocaust Educational Trust’s Book of Commitment on 16 January 2017 to pledge my commitment to Holocaust Memorial Day and to honour those who were murdered during the Holocaust as well as paying tribute to the extraordinary Holocaust survivors who work tirelessly to educate young people.
Today I celebrated Martin Luther King Day - a national holiday held in America on the third Monday of January each year - to celebrate his birthday and commemorate his life and achievements as an influential American civil rights leader.
