On Tuesday 9 December 2014, the Health Select Committee, of which Valerie is a member, heard evidence for the Committee's inquiry into Public Expenditure from the Rt Hon Jeremy Hunt MP, Secretary of State for Health; Una O’Brien CB, Permanent Secretary, Department of Health; Richard Douglas CB, Director General, Finance and NHS, Department of Health;
Valerie intervened in a Westminster Hall Debate on Thursday 4 December 2014 on Small Business Saturday which is to take place on 6 December 2014.
On Thursday 4 December 2014, the House of Commons Governance of the House Committee, of which Valerie is a member, heard evidence from Rt Hon Lord Judge, former Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales; Sir Kevin Tebbit, KCB CMG and David Orr, external member of the Restoration and Renewal Programme Board.
Valerie Vaz, Member of Parliament for Walsall South, has tabled an Early Day Motion (EDM) supporting John’s Campaign. This campaign was started by Nicci Gerrard and is campaigning for the right for family representatives to stay with relatives who suffer from dementia when they are in hospital.
On Wednesday 3 December 2014, the House of Commons Governance of the House Committee, of which Valerie is a member, heard evidence from Sir Robert Rogers, the former Clerk of the House of Commons and Chief Executive, on his views on the governance arrangements of the House.
On Wednesday 3 December 2014 Valerie called for justice for Moses in support of Amnesty International's Campaign.
On Tuesday 2 December 2014, the House of Commons Governance of the House Committee, of which Valerie is a member, heard evidence from three former Clerks of the House: Sir Malcolm Jack KCB; Sir William McKay KCB, Sir Roger Sands KCB; followed by Rt Hon Dame Margaret Beckett MP and Rt Hon Andrew Tyrie MP.
On Tuesday 2 December 2014 Valerie tabled an Early Day Motion on the use of sexual violence by the Burmese Army.
