On Thursday 19 July 2012 the House of Commons Health Select Committee, of which Valerie is a member, published its report on the Government's Alcohol Strategy. Valerie visited Fiesta World Buffet in Lichfield Street. Fiesta opened its doors in April, earlier this year and has provided a welcome boost to the local economy.
Head Teacher, Mr Gary Thornton invited Valerie to attend the Leavers Assembly at Palfrey Junior School on Friday 20th July 2012. Valerie presented dictionaries to everyone of the Year Six pupils on their last day of at Palfrey Junior School.
On Wednesday 18 July 2012, Valerie and pupils from Whitehall Junior School and Delves Infant School presented Going for Gold Medals to the Prime Minister at Number 10 Downing Street, calling on world leaders to ensure that every child has the opportunity to go to school.
