Valerie has today warned that cuts to police numbers will put crime reduction at risk in the West Midlands.
Valerie Vaz MP is calling on residents to nominate a product that is made or designed in Walsall South to highlight the best of the town’s manufacturing industry as part of the Made by Britain scheme.

On Tuesday 26 July 2011, the House of Commons Health Select Committee, of which Valerie is a member, published its report into the General Medical Council (GMC) and the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
On Saturday 23rd July 2011 Valerie opened the Walsall Samaritans awareness day at the New Art Gallery and unveiled the artwork, ‘A Call for Help’.
On Friday 8th July, Valerie welcomed singer, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan to the New Art Gallery, Walsall. Valerie invited Rahat, who is at the end of a sell-out UK tour, as a way of highlighting the success of the New Art Gallery to people who might not have visited previously.
Valerie has welcomed the news that the 639 bus service from Kings Hill in Darlaston to Walsall Manor Hospital and Walsall Town Centre is to be restored, two and a half years after it was withdrawn. Centro, the West Midlands transport authority, announced the move as part of their West Walsall and Wolverhampton Bus Services Review.
On 29th June 2011 Valerie introduced the Adoption (Leave, Pay and Allowance Arrangements) Bill to Parliament under the Ten Minute Rule procedure.
