In April 2022 the Conservative Government intended to privatise Channel 4. The former Culture Secretary Nadine Dorries and former Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced this policy to sell Channel 4 after 40 years in public ownership.

I have written to the Chief Executive of Citizens Advice Dame Claire Moriarty to raise my concerns regarding Walsall MBC’s budget proposal to cut the funding to Citizens Advice Sandwell & Walsall. Here is my letter:

Following the misogynistic language used against The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle in an article in a newspaper, I and other Parliamentarians agreed to write to the Editor to condemn the use of the language. It is appalling and alarming this article should have appeared in the newspaper and was precisley what the Duchess of Sussex

I joined colleagues from across both houses to sign a letter urging Foreign Secretary James Cleverly to condemn the sentencing of Jimmy Lai in Hong Kong, and to call for his release. A British citizen, Mr Lai has been sentenced for a total of 5 years and 9 months imprisonment. On the 14 December 2022 I voted against a Ten Minute Rule Motion which was bought by a Conservative MP. The motion would have given time for a Bill which allows the Government to ignore some decisions and judgments of the international courts. Fortunately, the Bill was voted down with only 69 voting in favour
