The second Opposition Day Debate was held on Afghanistan. A series of chaotic failures and miscalculations in Afghanistan have damaged our international reputation, weakened our security and tragically meant Brits and Afghans who worked alongside us have been left behind.
Two Opposition Day Debates were held on Wednesday 15 September 2021. The first debate was on the Government's plan to cut Universal Credit and Working Tax Credit by £20 a week.

On Wednesday 8 September 2021, the House of Commons voted on the Health and Social Care Levy to increase National Insurance by 1.25%. It passed by Ayes: 317 - Noes: 248.
The House of Commons voted on the Second Reading of the Elections Bill on Tuesday 7 September 2021. The Elections Bill passed Second Reading by Ayes: 327 - Noes: 228.

On 18 August 2021, I co-signed a letter with 135 fellow female MPs to Elay Ershad, expressing support and solidarity with her and women MPs in Afghanistan during this difficult time. The letter was coordinated by Rt Hon Harriet Harman MP.
