Parliament’s Education Service

I am delighted to hear that between September 2016 and August 2017 my constituents in Walsall South participated in the following ways:

15 constituents in 7 non-school groups visited Parliament on a Member sponsored tour.

291 students from 11 schools participated in the Education Visits Programme: Hillary Primary School, Grace Academy Darlaston, Moorcroft Wood Primary School, Whitehall Nursery and Infant School, Delves Infant School, Queen Mary’s Grammar School, West Walsall E-ACT Academy, Joseph Leckie Academy, Rough Hay Primary School, Abu Bakr Girls School and Blue Coat Church of England Aided Junior School

33 teachers participated in teacher training events at Parliament and in schools.

1 school took part in the Speaker School Council Awards.

Parliament’s Education Service aims to inform, engage and empower young people to understand, and get involved in, Parliament, politics and democracy. You can find out how your school can get involved with the Education Service this academic year here: www.parliament.uk/educationcentre

In addition, as part of the UK Parliament Teacher Ambassador Programme the Education Service will be hosting a residential Teachers’ Institute 22 – 24 January 2018. This is a free training opportunity for teachers to experience Parliament first hand, and then return to their schools to support understanding of, and increase engagement with, Parliament.

Applications forms are available at www.parliament.uk/education/teacher-training-cpd-opportunities/teachers-institute/UK and the closing date is Sunday 19 November 2017.
