The Secretary for Health and Social Care presented a statement on Patients Choice on Thursday 25 May 2023. I asked the Secretary of State a question. I started with a tribute to Karen Lumley a former MP who sadly died.
“Karen Lumley was indeed a wonderful woman. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family at this difficult time.
The statement is admirable, but how will patients have a choice if the Secretary of State does not address the workforce issue? When will he do that? When will he speak to the junior doctors?”
The Government has not addressed the workforce issue in particular settling the strike action taken by NHS staff and Junior doctors. In my view they need to do that first.
