Bill Ellens (in the yellow T Shirt) has brought the community together to start up and maintain a Pocket Garden on Wolverhampton Street. On Saturday 18 September the group planted daffodils, lavender and there was Jasmine and Honeysuckle to grow up the fence. There are also trees to be planted. Pocket gardens are being encouraged and they will be on display at the postponed RHS Chelsea Flower Show which is on 21-26 September 2021. I will be donating the sign for the Bug Hotel and the Manor Pocket Garden. The RHS Chelsea Flower Show website for their Pocket Garden. Bill prepared factsheet for the children. We also discussed the recycling of unwanted old tyres to use as planters.
There was also a recycled pallets which was turned into a plant holder and some of the children “dressed” the trees. I hope you will agree this will make the corner of Wolverhampton Road and green haven for people plants and insects.
