Pre-recess adjournment

I closed the pre-recess adjournment debate on 23 May 2019 on behalf of HM Opposition. The debate is an opportunity for Members to raise an array of issues that are important to them.

The Chair of the Backbench Business Committee mentioned the United Nations rapporteur  andI asked the Minister to raise this issue with his colleagues and actually look at the detail of the reports.

Many Members raised the steel industry. I said that steelworkers are our infrastructure in all senses of the word.

A flaw in the current criteria for visas for non-EEA citizens was also highlighted. I called on the Home Secretary to look into this important issue.
