Richard Ratcliffe’s Second Hunger Strike for Nazanin’s release

I visited Richard Ratcliffe on Thursday 4 November 2021 who is on day 12 of his second hunger strike. This time Richard is outside the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. Richard is the husband of Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe.  Nazanin is a British-Iranian woman who has been arbitrarily detained in Iran since April 2016 after visiting family with their young daughter Gabriella. 

For over three years I have voiced my deep concerns about Nazanin’s unjust imprisonment and our Government’s failed negotiation attempts to ensure Nazanin is released to Richard and Gabriella. It is disturbing that, especially since the outbreak of Covid-19, Nazanin’s deteriorating physical and mental health has not been taken seriously by the Government. As Shadow Leader of the Commons, every week I repeatedly called for the release of all dual national hostages.
