A debate was held on whether the Covid-19 regulations should be reinstated. This took place on Tuesday 30 November 2021. The renewal of the regulations were brought before Parliament following the outbreak of the new Omicron variant.
The SNP used their Opposition Day debate on Tuesday 30 November 2021 on a motion on the behaviour of the Prime Minister, the Rt Hon Member for Uxbridge and South Ruislip. The motion was moved by Ian Blackford MP. You can read the words of the motion here:
On Monday 29 November 2021 the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care Sajid Javid gave an update on Covid-19. I have heard from many constituents who are finding it difficult to access face to face appointments with GPs. So I asked the Secretary of State:
I was nominated to sit on a Designated Legislation Committee meeting on Monday 29 October 2021 relating to the draft Regulatory Enforcement and Sanctions Act 2008 (Amendment to Schedule 3) (England) Order 2021. This is about ensuring where there are 2 local authorities covering the business there is one authority for businesses to go to so that they have the appropriate response to public health emergencies. it gives businesses that are operating in multiple areas the confidence to know they will have a single set of rules to follow that are consistent, and enforcement will be consistent as well. 46,000 businesses with an existing primary authority partnership are getting informal advice—that is about as consistent as it gets. That is why the British Retail Consortium and other business stakeholders are keen to ensure in any future public health emergency that businesses can get that primary advice, rather than having to rely on different interpretations across the board
We gathered together Parliamentarians, colleagues of Rt Hon Cheryl Gillan and family and friends for a service of Thanksgiving for her life and work. The service was conducted by the Speaker's Chaplin the Venerable Tricia Hillas, Archdeacon of Westminster. Cheryl was a very kind MP and I knew her as she was the Vice Chair of the APPG on Epilepsy. She had a distinguished parliamentary career as the Secretary of State for Wales and an indomitable campaigner against HS2. Cheryl leaves a legacy that includes the Autism Act which put on a statutory footing help for Autistic Children. She will be missed.
