Press Releases
Keep updated with the latest news locally, media coverage and news from Parliament.
I attended the Carers Week event in Parliament on 11 June 2018 to celebrate and recognise the vital contribution made by people across the UK who currently provide care and support to a family member or friend who has a disability, illness, mental health problem or who needs extra help as they grow older.
On Sunday 10 June 2018, I was a guest on BBC Sunday Politics West Midlands. Topics for discussion were the West Midlands Mayor’s first year in office, drug abuse and unit alcohol pricing.
I signed the Sikh Genocide Book of Remembrance to commemorate the 1984 Golden Temple Massacre which saw thousands of Sikhs murdered, with many more beaten and raped.
I raised with the Leader of the House, the Government’s handling of the economy. GDP figures show that UK growth in the first three months of the year has hit a five-year low of 0.1%. Household spending rose by only 0.2%— the weakest in more than three years. I called for a debate on the effect of Brexit on economy.
I attended the 2018 Richard Dimbleby Lecture in Parliament on 5 June 2018.
