On Monday 25 April 2016, ahead of the 48-hour Junior Doctors Strike, I asked the Secretary of State for Health, Jeremy Hunt:
On Monday 25 April I attended the Woodland Trust reception to hear about the Woodland Trust's vision for the Government-led 25 year environment plan.
I met with young students from Emmanuel School twice in one week coincidentally.
The Junior Doctors have been waiting for the Secretary of State Jeremy Hunt outside Richmond House, the Department of Health so that they can engage with him to discuss the imposition of "7" day contract. The Secretary of State has said on numerous occasion that he will "impose" the contract. The Junior doctors with the backing of the BMA have balloted the members and won support for days of action. I visited the stall and spoke to Junior doctors and a nurse. They were adamant that they do not want to undertake further action but want to discuss the remaining concerns they have about patient safety under the new contract.
On 21 April 2016, I visited the replica of an ancient triumphal arch of Palmyra which was unveiled on Tuesday 19 April 2016 at Trafalgar Square as part of World Heritage Week. The arch was built by the Institute of Digital Archaeology using 3D technology. Up close, it is an impressive feat of technology. The Arch will be travelling around to other cities and will be in New York in September 2016. The ancient site of Palmyra was destroyed by Daesh in October 2015.
