National Parks were created by the Labour Government in 1949. Each National Park is run by its own National Park Authority, which receives a grant from the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA). The funding for each park is based on its size, habitats and other factors. This grant has been cut in real terms by 36% since 2010.
I asked for figures for the grants from Central Government to Walsall MBC. This grant enables local authorities to provide services for local people. The figures from the House of Commons Library make disappointing reading for Walsall.
I was delighted to attend the opening of the new Parliament Education Centre by Professor Brian Cox on Wednesday 15 July 2015 and was the set up at the instigation of Mr Speaker the Rt Hon John Bercow MP.
I am a sponsor of the Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (Statutory Requirement) Bill 2015-16 which received its First Reading on 15 July 2015.
